4:20pm Political Landscape for the Finance Sector 2024

Tania Bowers, Global Public Policy Director, APSCo

2023 has been a globally tumultuous year, but in some ways the UK and its government has seemed stuck in a holding pattern, pending an election, which Labour is forecast to win.  ONS numbers and APSCo research highlight a stagnant economy with September’s Broadbean Finance Sector Report showing a decline in vacancies over the year -  but actually some sectors such as compliance and insurance are showing resilience.  A strong labour market is critical to success -  skills and talent, appropriate sector and technology regulation and the international perspective are themes for APSCo’s policy asks in 2024.

Tania Bowers will give a view on the finance sector labour market in 2024 following the Autumn Statement, and seek views from the floor.
