Welcome & introduction

Tania Bowers, Global Public Policy Director, APSCo Global

The remit of this new group is to consider two key global issues:

  • Data Controls and Privacy
  • AI and Automation

This initiative aligns with APSCo Global’s theme to promote the optimum workforce supply chain for an ever evolving labour market.

Increasingly automation and AI is commonplace in recruitment and outsourcing, but often without a full understanding and the tools to manage associated risks.

In March 2023 the WEC published a set of high level principles: https://wecglobal.org/uploads/2023/03/AI-principles-WEC-AI-Code-of-Conduct.pdf

The EU and the UK are in various stages of legislating in this area and further afield, New York City and Singapore are leading the way.

In the UK, a new privacy act is being introduced, reconsidering the legitimate interests test used by many recruiters to hold and process personal data.

This webinar is an opportunity to discuss what role  as a membership group we should play in this key area to really have maximum impact on all recruiters (including SMEs without the luxury of IT and legal specialists) and to influence policy and law.
