This course provides the designated safeguarding officer in recruitment services (or those supporting the DSO) with the additional understanding and skills needed to respond to safeguarding concerns and safer recruitment concerns raised by consultants, clients and candidates; as well as an overview of handling allegations made against staff and candidates.
It explores the role of the DSO in multi-agency responses to safeguarding issues as defined by Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018), which sets out arrangements that organisations and agencies should have in place to reflect the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
This course is a mandatory requirement for anyone holding the post of DSO and should be refreshed every 2 years.
Each workshop is led by a highly skilled trainer using Zoom Video conferencing, or, in the case of face-to-face training, a one-day training centre based session.

James is a qualified Social Worker and a member of the international body Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT). He worked in the drugs and alcohol field for 10 years focusing on adult treatment, children in care, young offenders and as a manager in the NHS working with children and young people in treatment.
James is evidently very passionate about his role which really shows in his training. Takes the time to ensure everyone is up to speed, understands and that there is no confusion before moving on. Even via video, it felt like in person training where we were free to share and discuss our own experiences. Very much enjoyed and appreciated.
